We’re not yet open for classes yet!

All of our courses at Groove have three main goals. We hope to inspire creativity, form connections and also empower children to feel the best about themselves. We have consulted with a variety of professionals who are experts in the area of music therapy, occupational therapy and child psychology to help us to reach these goals. In every one of our classes or workshops at Groove, we are focused in on teaching kids emotional skills that are often left to the wayside in traditional school programs. We know that the curriculum objectives in classwork at school are often based on learning objectives and very rarely do they discuss the issues that our children have to constantly tackle including bullying, self esteem, suicide prevention, empathy, empowerment & leadership. We also know that we want your child to blossom in the ways they feel most comfortable to do it. We do that by understanding the ways your child learns best and incorporating that in our teaching style. Another really important thing that we want to highlight is the ways technology can both separate us and also help us form connections. We want our children to understand that they need to take a moment to talk to eachother and learn the skills to conversate again.

In all of our courses, we will try to showcase these goals. For example, in our computer programming courses, we utilize the programming aspects to give back to the community and highlight the children themselves in program spotlight nights. In our music exploration class, we learn about different cultures, review ways we are different and how we can be inclusive, all while exploring the world of music. In our STEM classes, we will learn about leadership, gender stereotypes and also talk about ways we can perservere towards our goals.

Our classes are usually 4-6 weeks and meet once a week. Workshops are 2-3 hour periods with a structured activity and goal. Sign up below to be placed on our email list. Email subscribers receive early registration opportunities and discounts! We also offer GIFT CARDS for those that want to gift an experience to a special child in their life!

KIDS CLASSES

Explore & Emote

Class time TBD (WIll meet once a week for 1.5 hours)

In this monthly workshop, join us as we discover and explore the world of beats and rhythms. Students will learn about a variety of instruments and music from around the world. In our hands on activities, we will play active rhythm games to help develop student movement using hands and fingers and progressing to movement of legs and feet.

As with all curriculum at Groove, we will target and discuss the ways that creativity can help mental health and self worth. This course also specifically educates children on different cultures and music from around the world as well.

This workshop will have a portion dedicated to this emotional education. We will discover ways that music has improved self esteem and allowed others to overcome anxiety, depression and feelings of isolation. While our goal is to educate on rhythms, we also want students to leave this class knowing how creative endeavors and being present (without technology) can be a crucial part of growth as an individual. Students will make an action plan on how to incorporate creativity into their own schedules after the class.
